Heating controls that make sense for your home.
Replace confusing controls or plan an upgrade without buying a thermostat that does not suit your boiler, hot-water system or household.
Work out what you need the controls to do.
Start with the frustration: a difficult programmer, the wrong schedule, unreliable room temperature or a wish to make changes from your phone. Some homes need straightforward physical controls rather than more apps. Your heating and hot-water arrangement determines which options are appropriate.
Check compatibility before purchasing.
Send the boiler model and photos of the current thermostat, programmer and receiver where accessible. For a system with a cylinder, include the hot-water controls. Compatibility can involve the boiler’s control interface, wiring, zones and the manufacturer’s instructions—not just whether a product is labelled smart.
Choose an agreed installation, not an assumed saving.
Gas Champion’s existing service range includes work with controls such as Hive, Nest, tado° and Honeywell. Product suitability, supply and any wiring work are agreed in the quote. No particular percentage saving is promised; the outcome depends on the home, settings and how the heating is used.
Leave with the everyday use explained.
The agreed handover should make the schedule and basic temperature changes understandable. Check the chosen manufacturer’s app, account and internet requirements before purchase. A control replacement is not a substitute for investigating an unrelated boiler fault.
Start with what
you already have.
A photo of your thermostat and the boiler model is a useful starting point. You do not need to choose a brand before asking what would suit your system.
Equipment and compatibility are confirmed in your quotation.
Ask about your heating controls
Useful answers.
Can I supply my own thermostat?
Will a smart thermostat fix my heating fault?
Do I have to use a phone app?
