A working boiler due for maintenance needs a service. An existing fault needs diagnosis. When a full strip clean has been recommended, send the boiler model and service notes so the work can be scoped first.
Keep the model and records together.
Find the boiler model, commissioning record, service history and warranty information supplied with the home. You can usually find the model in the paperwork or on the accessible front of the boiler; do not remove the casing. Ask the builder, seller or installer for missing records.
Arrange maintenance for the appliance you have.
Use the manufacturer’s instructions and warranty conditions to establish when servicing is due. Ideal provides separate literature for its boiler ranges, including Logic models. A warranty does not replace maintenance, and the service record is useful evidence of the work completed.
Ideal Logic servicing and strip cleans.
Gas Champion carries out servicing, diagnosis and full strip cleans on Ideal Logic combi, system and heat-only boilers. A strip clean is a more involved service: the engineer accesses and cleans the relevant internal components as required by the model’s instructions and condition, then checks operation. The scope and price, including any seals or parts, are agreed first. You do not need to decide which internal components require attention.
Report a fault before the visit.
Tell the engineer about loss of heating or hot water, ignition noises, repeated lockouts or an error code. These need investigation rather than an assumption that a strip clean will solve them. Book diagnosis / repair for an existing fault. Leave internal checks and cleaning to a suitably qualified Gas Safe registered engineer.
Check the rest of the heating system, too.
A boiler service covers the booked boiler work. A separate hot-water cylinder, heating controls or other gas appliances may need their own maintenance or checks. Mention these when enquiring so the appointment covers what you need.
